HORSES. HOW BUGATTI BUILT THE MONSTROUS CHIRON

11 RADIATORS. 16 CYLINDERS. 1,500 HORSES. HOW BUGATTI BUILT THE MONSTROUS CHIRON

A Bugatti is more of a work of art with four wheels than a car. And new models don’t come around very often. When one is introduced, the entire auto industry sits up and takes notice.
Introduced at the Geneva show, the Chiron receives an 8.0-liter W16 engine that uses four turbochargers to generate a jaw-dropping 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque from 2,000 all the way up to 6,000 rpm. That’s enough power to fling the carbon fiber-bodied coupe from zero to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, from zero to 124 mph in less than 6.5 seconds, and from zero to 186 mph in 13.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 261 mph, though insiders suggest the Chiron maxes out at over 290 mph when the limiter is turned off.Digital Trends sat down with Willi Netuschil, the head of Bugatti’s engineering department, to find out what makes the Chiron tick.Digital Trends: Saying that the Chiron has big shoes to fill is an understatement. What was the most challenging aspect of designing it?

Willi Netuschil: The most challenging aspect was clearly to combine that much power and that much torque in a package that the driver can really control. As you can imagine, putting all that power to the ground is difficult, even with four-wheel drive. We looked into a lot of different solutions, and we ultimately developed a special two-stage turbocharging system that delivers a very straight power curve. In other words, it’s easy to control the Chiron.
How much of the engine is new?

Keep in mind the base engine was developed to generate 1,000 horsepower. We increased that figure to 1,200, and now we’ve just bumped it up again by 25 percent, so we re-worked it entirely for the sake of durability and efficiency.

bugatti engineering chief willi netuschil interview chiron speed key webWe didn’t stop at the engine, either. Notably, the air intake system is very innovative and completely new. It’s a one-piece component made out of carbon fiber in order to reduce back pressure and to shed as much weight as possible. We did the same with the exhaust system, which is made out of titanium.
The transmission is a seven-speed, dual-clutch unit that has also been redesigned. The W16 generates a lot of torque over a very wide band so the durability requirements are much higher.
Why did you choose 1,500 horsepower?

We spent a lot of time discussing how much power we should give the Chiron. We knew we had to set a new high speed record, and it was clear from the beginning that we needed 1,500 horsepower. With eight liters of displacement we achieved more or less 200 horsepower per liter, which is amazing.

Popping Pimples On This Part Of Your Face Can Kill You

Popping Pimples On This Part Of Your Face Can Kill You

I thought once I kissed my teenage years goodbye that I’d be kissing acne goodbye too.
While it’s gotten better over the years, I’m still prone to the odd zit or seven, especially the week before my period.
Is there anything more depressing than applying anti-wrinkle cream AND anti-acne cream? Answer: no, no there is not.
I feel like when it comes to acne, we all have certain spots where we are more likely to get a pimple. For some, acne appears where they hold their phone closest to their face. For me, it’s always been around my nose and my upper lip.
If I were to tally up the hours I have wasted squeezing, poking, and prodding at acne in this area I would easily have a whole extra year of life.
God, that’s actually kind of depressing.
It turns out that I’m actually lucky to have made it out of these pimple-popping sessions alive. Why? Because the central triangle of your face which includes your nose and upper lip have another nickname in the medical community —
The deadly triangle.
*CUE DRAMATIC AND SCARY THEME MUSIC*
wikipedia
You can go ahead and pop all the pimples you want on your forehead. Attack the acne on your chin with ruthless abandon. But leave the deadly triangle alone.
Yup, this space on your face is so death-prone that science and medicine had to give it this ridiculous sounding name.
Popping a pimple in this area could literally kill you. That’s because the blood vessels in this area drain to the back of your head. If you innocently pop a pimple in the danger triangle and it becomes (knock on wood) infected, that can lead to stuff like loss of vision, meningitis, a brain abscess, or even death.
Yeah, I think I’ll take the concealer over the potential death sentence, thank you very much.
This makes me rethink every single action movie I have ever seen. You know when the good guy lays out the bad guy with the heel of his palm to his nose? Now he should just run at the guy with an extractor and some astringent, the effect would apparently be every single inch as deadly. Okay, maybe not. But it’s a comical image.
It’s ridiculously tempting to pop your pimples during an outbreak of acne. I have to be totally honest, I can’t see myself NOT popping a ripe and juicy pimple that’s ready to go even if it IS in the so-called danger triangle.
If you’ve got a pimple in the danger zone and you have to get it rid of it there are lots of ways to do it without popping the pimple. Try applying a warm washcloth to open up the pore. Overnight drying creams are also a great option, along with just plain old steam (from a steam facial machine or just in the shower) to help the pore open without putting dangerous force on your face.
Also, doing all that stuff you’re supposed to do to prevent getting pimples in the first place is probably a good idea, too.

Deepika Padukone Will Not Shoot With Ranveer Singh For Padmavati For This Reason!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next mammoth project ‘Padmavati‘ starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles has been in the news since it was announced first. The film is grabbing all the limelight and the anticipation to see the stars shooting for the film together is growing. After much of confusion and problems regarding the casting of the film, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set for the shooting of the film. Reportedly, Deepika Padukone has done her look test and will begin with the shooting of Padmavati in few days.
As per media reports, Padmavati shooting will roll with a song featuring Deepika Padukone. As the song is totally based on Deepika, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor will not be a part of it. The song sequence will be shot at Mehboob studio in Mumbai. Reportedly, the makers of the film have started constructing Chittorgarh fort at the studio and professional Rajasthani folk dancers have been called to train Deepika Padukone for the song. Meanwhile, the shooting of Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor for the film is expected to start once the look test is done.
Well, after much of hurdles and delay, finally SLB’s dream project is all set to roll in a couple of days. The film is said to be a historical drama based on the obsession of Alauddin Khilji over Rani Padmavati.

Miss Earth India 2016 finalist's open letter goes viral; model claims winner was declared without competition

Miss Earth India 2016 finalist's open letter goes viral; model claims winner was declared without competition

A finalist of the Miss Earth India beauty pageant has penned down a letter describing the harrowing experience the contestants go through after participating in the beauty pageant. In her open letter, which has gone viral on social media, the finalist blamed the management's attitude for ruining things for other contestants.
Talking about her experience, the finalist, whose identity has not been revealed, said that the winner of Miss Earth India 2016 – Rashi Yadav – was not decided based on any competition. On the grand finale day, the 25 contestants were called on stage and soon the winner was announced.
"We were to have 3 rounds respectively, of which the last round, gown round's choreography was not ready, again, another round was called off, and the most dramatic scene was when all the 25 contestants were called on stage, while some were still doing the ethnic round walk (1st round)," the finalist said in a statement.
"A man comes up on the stage and starts announcing that they already have a winner and that the 'winner' has been chosen on the basis of excellence, value, experience and what not!"
"They announced Rashi as the winner and all of us, the 24 girls stood there, humiliated and startled. People are now making up stories that we are being mean because we couldn't make it there. Really?" the contestant wrote.
She further clarified that there was no introduction round, no Question and Answer round, which is one of the important parts of judging a beauty contest, and no evening gown round.
"Some even said that the girls tried to attack her, when the truth is everybody was waiting in the green room, was broken enough even to speak, imagine, when you decide to go after a certain thing, putting so much effort into making ends meet, with all the expectations of family, friends, and well-wishers, suddenly, things change course, how will you feel?"
Broken right?
And about the pre-judging, it began on 1st October, where we all did our best and gave birth to a belief that we could pull it off on the finale.
And also, if they say it was based on the activities they had in the past, they can cross check the attendance or even go through our Pages and our timelines where they will see our work, our everyday activities, we did not leave any stone unturned.
Did we deserve this?
7 months is not a joke, we had to fly to Delhi back and forth every now and then, had to stay in hotels and follow the 'dress-code' for every activity they declared, all the expenses on our own.
We were told to bring a whole lot of clothes ranging from gowns to sarees to shorts to dresses to gym wears and again, last moment cancellations when most of us bought all that was required.

Sex Doesn't Affect Athletic Performance, Science Says

Sex Doesn't Affect Athletic Performance, Science Says

Study: No, Sex Before The Big Game Won't Ruin Your Performance

Long Story Short

A new review suggests sex before sport doesn’t have a negative effect on athletic performance and could even be beneficial. Such evidence flies in the face of the common wisdom of containing an athlete’s agro by drying them out pre-competition.

Long Story

You know the theory: keep your prized athletes away from the opposite sex the night before the big game, lest they boink away all their agro and energy. It’s coaching advice as old as sport itself.
But is it correct? Not according to a recent analysis of current scientific evidence, published in the open-access journal Frontiers in Physiology, which sifted through hundreds of studies with the potential to shed light on the impact of sex upon athletic performance. Applying a set of filters, researchers settled on nine papers to include in the review.
For example, one looked at the strength of female athletes after they had sex the night before competition, and found no difference to those who abstained. And another study showed that marathon runners seemed to benefit from hanky panky before the big race.
But while these studies provided some important clues about the effect of sex on athletic performance, the researchers were surprised and disappointed by the general lack of research done on the topic.
“We clearly show that this topic has not been well investigated and only anecdotal stories have been reported,” explained lead author Dr Laura Stefani in a Frontiers blog post. Stefani is an assistant professor of sports medicine at the University of Florence in Italy. “In fact, unless it takes place less than two hours before, the evidence actually suggests sexual activity may have a beneficial effect on sports performance.”
The review revealed that males were more frequently the subject of studies than females, but with no comparison of effects across genders. It also highlighted that cultural differences in attitudes toward sex may influence how much of an impact it has on performance. However, we know that none other than Ronda Rousey endorses a rigorous pre-fight sex regimen, in part because she believes it raises testosterone levels.
Basically, more research is needed. But it’s fair to say that the old idea that you need to lock down your gonads the night before the big match has been more or less debunked

How To Deal With Your Girlfriend's Past Relationships

Hey guys, my name is Marni and I am a professional wing girl and owner of The Wing Girl Method.  Which means it’s my job to tell you tons of secrets about women so you can be successful with them ;-) I love hearing from you and really like that you are sending me questions and comments.
Here is an awesome question that I got from Vlad that I think may resonate with many of you who are in a relationship: “Marni, Why do my girlfriend's past relationships and sexual partners bother me and how do I get over it?
Vlad, they bother you because you are a human being. A human being who really likes your girlfriend and doesn’t want to have to envision anyone else being with or IN her. As a woman, I experience the exact same type of jealousy and I honestly think it’s totally normal. But what’s interesting is that while most men don’t want to have to hear about a woman’s exes, MOST women want to know everything about a man’s exes. It’s not some type of perverse thing. It’s actually a way for us girls to get to know our man better and help calm some of those early relationship nerves.
We want to know what went wrong in the past and if you’ve changed your ways. We also want to know that you are completely over your ex and hopefully hate her so that you won’t leave us in the middle of the night to rekindle your relationship. Our line of questioning and the information we receive is a way for us to investigate and get solid confirmation that what we have is better than what the two of you have. It helps calm our jealousy and have more faith in our relationship.
I’m telling you this because I think so many men could actually learn from the way us women investigate. Collecting more real information rather then letting your brain run a muck is a surefire way to increase those jealous feelings and totally turn off your girlfriend. My advice is that if your girlfriend's past relationships are getting under your skin, it may be because you don’t know enough information about this ex.
So start asking questions. Calm questions, curious questions, inquisitive questions -- NOT attacking questions that can show you to be a jealous little man. Ask questions such as “Why did your last relationship end?” and "Do you still talk to your ex?” and then let her share. Let HER tell you the information that you need to know in order to be more calm about things and remove that jealous edge.
Trust me. Not only will this calm you down and decrease feelings of jealousy, it will also strengthen your relationshipHow To Deal With Your Girlfriend's Past Relationships - Dating & Sex http://in.askmen.com/dating-sex/1114228/article/how-to-deal-with-your-girlfriends-past-relationships

  • She says: 'I wanted to keep the magic of our special day going'

One woman has found a perfect way not to let her wedding dress go to waste - by wearing it again and again.
Samantha Burns, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, is so attached to the dress that she has worn it golfing, taste-testing fudge, munching pancakes, and dancing on a river cruise, all on the anniversary of her tying the knot.
The 30-year-old married her husband Darren in August 2014.

As the day and the dress were so special to her, she did not want to let the magic go.
Samantha, 30, said: "I thought of the idea the day of our wedding when I didn't want to take off my dress. I wanted to keep the magic of our special day going.

"It represents our marriage, the vows we took on our own wedding day, and the anniversary feel very special.
"Playing golf was probably the most entertaining because we love to play together and I drew quite a crowd at the driving range!
