11 RADIATORS. 16 CYLINDERS. 1,500 HORSES. HOW BUGATTI BUILT THE MONSTROUS CHIRON

A Bugatti is more of a work of art with four wheels than a car. And new models don’t come around very often. When one is introduced, the entire auto industry sits up and takes notice. Introduced at the Geneva show, the Chiron receives an 8.0-liter W16 engine that uses four turbochargers to generate a jaw-dropping 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque from 2,000 all the way up to 6,000 rpm. That’s enough power to fling the carbon fiber-bodied coupe from zero to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, from zero to 124 mph in less than 6.5 seconds, and from zero to 186 mph in 13.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 261 mph, though insiders suggest the Chiron maxes out at over 290 mph when the limiter is turned off.Digital Trends sat down with Willi Netuschil, the head of Bugatti’s engineering department, to find out what makes the Chiron tick.Digital Trends: Saying that the Chiron has big shoes to fill is an understatement. What was the most challenging aspect of designing it?
Willi Netuschil: The most challenging aspect was clearly to combine that much power and that much torque in a package that the driver can really control. As you can imagine, putting all that power to the ground is difficult, even with four-wheel drive. We looked into a lot of different solutions, and we ultimately developed a special two-stage turbocharging system that delivers a very straight power curve. In other words, it’s easy to control the Chiron.
How much of the engine is new?
Keep in mind the base engine was developed to generate 1,000 horsepower. We increased that figure to 1,200, and now we’ve just bumped it up again by 25 percent, so we re-worked it entirely for the sake of durability and efficiency.

It’s a one-piece component made out of carbon fiber in order to reduce back pressure and to shed as much weight as possible. We did the same with the exhaust system, which is made out of titanium.
The transmission is a seven-speed, dual-clutch unit that has also been redesigned. The W16 generates a lot of torque over a very wide band so the durability requirements are much higher.
Why did you choose 1,500 horsepower?
We spent a lot of time discussing how much power we should give the Chiron. We knew we had to set a new high speed record, and it was clear from the beginning that we needed 1,500 horsepower. With eight liters of displacement we achieved more or less 200 horsepower per liter, which is amazing.
Popping Pimples On This Part Of Your Face Can Kill You
I thought once I kissed my teenage years goodbye that I’d be kissing acne goodbye too.
While it’s gotten better over the years, I’m still prone to the odd zit or seven, especially the week before my period.
Is there anything more depressing than applying anti-wrinkle cream AND anti-acne cream? Answer: no, no there is not.
I
feel like when it comes to acne, we all have certain spots where we are
more likely to get a pimple. For some, acne appears where they hold
their phone closest to their face. For me, it’s always been around my
nose and my upper lip.
If
I were to tally up the hours I have wasted squeezing, poking, and
prodding at acne in this area I would easily have a whole extra year of
life.
God, that’s actually kind of depressing.
It
turns out that I’m actually lucky to have made it out of these
pimple-popping sessions alive. Why? Because the central triangle of your
face which includes your nose and upper lip have another nickname in
the medical community —
You
can go ahead and pop all the pimples you want on your forehead. Attack
the acne on your chin with ruthless abandon. But leave the deadly
triangle alone.
Yup, this space on your face is so death-prone that science and medicine had to give it this ridiculous sounding name.
Popping a pimple in this area
could literally kill you. That’s because the blood vessels in this area
drain to the back of your head. If you innocently pop a pimple in the
danger triangle and it becomes (knock on wood) infected, that can lead
to stuff like loss of vision, meningitis, a brain abscess, or even
death.
Yeah, I think I’ll take the concealer over the potential death sentence, thank you very much.
This
makes me rethink every single action movie I have ever seen. You know
when the good guy lays out the bad guy with the heel of his palm to his
nose? Now he should just run at the guy with an extractor and some
astringent, the effect would apparently be every single inch as deadly.
Okay, maybe not. But it’s a comical image.
It’s
ridiculously tempting to pop your pimples during an outbreak of acne. I
have to be totally honest, I can’t see myself NOT popping a ripe and
juicy pimple that’s ready to go even if it IS in the so-called danger
triangle.
If
you’ve got a pimple in the danger zone and you have to get it rid of it
there are lots of ways to do it without popping the pimple. Try
applying a warm washcloth to open up the pore. Overnight drying creams
are also a great option, along with just plain old steam (from a steam
facial machine or just in the shower) to help the pore open without
putting dangerous force on your face.
Also, doing all that stuff you’re supposed to do to prevent getting pimples in the first place is probably a good idea, too.

Deepika Padukone Will Not Shoot With Ranveer Singh For Padmavati For This Reason!
Sanjay
Leela Bhansali’s next mammoth project ‘Padmavati‘ starring Deepika
Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles has been in
the news since it was announced first. The film is grabbing all the
limelight and the anticipation to see the stars shooting for the film
together is growing. After much of confusion and problems regarding the
casting of the film, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set for the
shooting of the film. Reportedly, Deepika Padukone has done her look
test and will begin with the shooting of Padmavati in few days.
As
per media reports, Padmavati shooting will roll with a song featuring
Deepika Padukone. As the song is totally based on Deepika, Ranveer
Singh, and Shahid Kapoor will not be a part of it. The song sequence
will be shot at Mehboob studio in Mumbai. Reportedly, the makers of the
film have started constructing Chittorgarh fort at the studio and
professional Rajasthani folk dancers have been called to train Deepika
Padukone for the song. Meanwhile, the shooting of Ranveer Singh and
Shahid Kapoor for the film is expected to start once the look test is
done.
Well,
after much of hurdles and delay, finally SLB’s dream project is all set
to roll in a couple of days. The film is said to be a historical drama
based on the obsession of Alauddin Khilji over Rani Padmavati.
